So, I just spent the better part of the evening learning all about Apache/PHP/Wordpress/etc caching and squeezing every ounce of performance out of my server to handle massive traffic loads. My website should be nice and fast now when the horde shows up !
Unfortunately, this knowledge is like life experience. You get it after you really could have used it. It would have been nice to have had this in place when the 2 Lifehacker articles hit… It is just hard to prepare for the masses when you have never been through it before.
Perhaps I can use it to teach others going forward!
